At Work

Just wanted to upload some of the recent work I've done. This was at a Versace preview show by Inquattro Fashion Group in Toronto last September. Had so much fun!

Sally Hansen Gunmetal nail polish!

I am in love with Sally Hansen's nail polish, gunmetal. It's from the Xtreme Wear collection. It is a slightly metallic shade of blue-ish silver.

Great Drugstore Buys

Annabelle Skin True Foundation

I personally find foundation to be the most important step of makeup application. The common assumption is to splurge on it, though there are many high-end brands that have great foundations
( Makeup forever's HD foundation, Clinique, MAC) there are some drugstore brands that do have some reaaaaaallyyy good ones as well. One of which is Annabelle's Skin True foundation. It comes in different shades but the best ones would be natural ivory, medium beige, and soft tan. I say this because these are the foundations with flattering undertones. The other ones give off a pinkish undertone which on most people is not very flattering.

Revlon ColorStay Foundation

I am a huge fan of the Revlon ColorStay foundations. It gives a great full coverage and it comes in many different shades. All the foundations in this line also specify what kind of skin it is best for (oily/combination, dry. etc)
The Revlon ColorStay line has often been compared to Makeup Forever's HD foundation.

Rimmel Sexy Curves waterproof mascara

I am in love with Rimmel's waterproof Sexy Curves mascara. Firstly, I like is because i really have a disdain for clumping, with this product i have never once had to deal with annoying clumps of mascara. Secondly, its a really great and effective waterproof mascara.

Revlon ColorStay eyeliner

Among many reasons why I love this eyeliner, one would be because it glides incredibly softly along the waterline. It is an intense black.

Burt's Bees Beeswax lip balm

This is one of my favorite lip balms. It gives off a soothing and cooling effect that feels great.

Neutrogena Make-up Remover

A great product for when you're too lazy or unable to wash your face before bed (not that i recommend not washing your face) or when you're not at home.

L'OREAL's Infalliable lip color

Imagine a lip stick you apply in the morning and doses not smear or disappear all through the day. L'OREAL's Infalliable never fail lip color comes in varying shades, which are all really pretty. My personal favorite is "Amber", the orange-y peach shade

GlaxalBase Moisturizing cream

This is a really good moisturizing cream to use before applying foundation. Not to mention it's hypo-allergenic.
Maybelline Eye studio gel liner

This is a product that really surprised me. It's a gel liner that i find is very similar to Bobbi Brown's longwear eye gel.

Annabelle's mineral blush in sugar rush

A nice pink-y blush. Apply with a blush brush and apply gradually (it can look really intense if you don't apply gradually)

Maybelline Falsies Mascara VOLUM' EXPRESS

Another great druggstore mascara that seperates your lashes, to make it look more defined and full.

Toronto IMATS is coming up soon!

For all of you who may not know, The IMATS is the International Makeup Artist Trade Show, and is the only show of it's kind in the world. It happens once a year in various locations, such as Los Angeles, London, Toronto, Sydney, Vancouver and New York. I happen to live in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), thus will be attending the Toronto IMATS. It will be on November 6 & 7 and will be held at the Toronto Congress Centre (650 Dixon Road in Toronto). Tickets are being sold for $35 CAD for either the 6th or 7th and for $60 CAD for both days.

There will be many different events at the 2010 Toronto IMATS. There will be speakers and educators, such as MAC cosmetics' director of makeup artistry, Nadine Luke, youtube guru, kandee Johnson and many others. There will also be an Alice in Wonderland themed student makeup competition, a makeup museum and a fashion show.

Illamasqua

I just wanted to do a post on the brand that is Illamasqua.
It is a fairly new UK based makeup brand that is the epitome of wild and out-of-this world looks. "Its roots stem from the dark and illicit 1920s club scene and combines a rich heritage in the manufacture of makeup for film and theatre". The brand stands for self expression. Their phrase is "makeup for your alter ego". Illamasqua wants you to express your self and be who you are, meaning to create who you are on the inside with makeup. (your personality, not internal organs). Illamasqua has many fabulous collections, such as "Porcelain doll" , "Noir", "1920s Berlin", "Sirens", "Dystopia"and their new "Art of Darkness collection".
